Christina had NO idea what was coming at the end of her and Andrew’s stroll in the park.
It was less than a week to Christmas and a typical day in San Francisco – a little bit of sun, a lot of fog, a slim chance at finding parallel parking spots in the city, and a whole crowd of cars determined to do so anyways. It was the kind of day meant for wandering Golden Gate Park and exploring new gardens and hidden corners inside, which is exactly what Andrew proposed (pun intended) as an afternoon activity to Christina.
Unbeknownst to Christina, Andrew had spent the last few weeks nervously lining up the details for the perfect proposal. He had the beautiful ring. A custom ring box (future fiancé’s-to-be, take note). Even all of Christina’s family was in on the secret! Andrew knew that such a special moment had to be documented, and he thought about asking a close family relative to take the photos, but was worried about potentially giving the surprise away. So he turned to other options..
I arrived a few minutes early at the Shakespeare Garden, a little tucked-away spot with a romantic, brick-lined walkway. Curiously enough, there was a wedding session already in the garden with a bride, groom, and their photographer! They didn’t look like they were in a huge rush, so I quickly approached the group and let them know what was about to unfold. They were more than happy to step to the side for a minute and excitedly awaited the approach of our couple. A split second later, Andrew and Christina walked right past us with a smile.. it was TOO perfect. I realized that by standing with this wedding party, I looked exactly like the second photographer of their group!
I followed Andrew and Christina a few steps behind down the walkway, and once they got to the end of the garden, I offered to help them take a quick cell phone picture of the two of them together. Christina happily obliged and stood next to Andrew for the photo. And before you knew it, Andrew was down on his knee..
I can’t say enough about Flytographer’s ability to help plan and create the most perfect proposals. It’s such an honor to shoot for them in the San Francisco Bay Area, and getting to be a part of Andrew and Christina’s amazing proposal story has definitely been one of the highlights. Thank you so much for having me out!
