zola + austin | PEACHTREE CHRISTIAN CHURCH AND CHASTAIN HORSE PARK WEDDING

Love is in the details. The story behind the bride’s dress. How each and every guest is connected. The way a groom’s face changes as his bride walks down the aisle. If there is anything I’ve learned from the hundreds of weddings I’ve attended over the years, it’s to look for the details. The day Zola and Austin said “I do” was filled to bursting with delight in every little detail, and all the most special moments were centered on their families and loved ones. From the moment I heard that one of my sorority sisters had found her heart’s match, I knew that this wedding would be an absolutely unforgettable celebration!

Zola and Austin were married on St. Patrick’s Day, and the tokens of the holiday were present everywhere: their beautiful; invitational suite design, Zola’s shamrock pin on her bouquet, and even a lucky horseshoe arrangement that greeted guests as they entered the reception! Austin also added a few special touches of an entirely different and more explosive (literally) nature! As an unexploded ordinance technician with the Army, the detail that most represented his current career was – you got it – a groom’s cake designed to look like a bomb! The couple also included a tiny cameo of their adorable dog, Willie Pete (a nickname for phosphorous, a common element in explosives) on their stunningly beautiful wedding cake. These two are a flawless mesh of loveliness and fun, and their wedding day couldn’t have reflected that more perfectly.

However, it was the way that family, both present and passed on, were included in the day that I found most moving, beginning with the fact that Zola and Austin were pronounced husband and wife in Peachtree Christian Church, the same church where Zola’s parents recited their vows four decades prior! Zola also walked down the aisle with a handkerchief that her great-great-aunt carried on her wedding day, and near the end of the reception, Zola changed into a pearly-white family heirloom dress to wear as the couple made their grand exit under a shower of bubbles.

While her second dress was a special treat, Zola’s wedding gown left us all speechless. The layers of blush tulle ornamented with delicate lace added a fresh spin to the traditional white wedding gown, and her bridesmaids in unique yet complimentary glittering blush dresses were a complete vision.

This wedding was such a very special one for me, and I am so thrilled to share some of my favorite photos from the day below! Check out the vendor list at the end of this post for the full credits!
