kaitlin + will | WHEELER HOUSE WEDDING

What happens when a couple voted by their senior class as “The Best Couple That Never Happened,” well, happens? Only one of the most fun weddings I’ve ever had the joy to attend and photograph! Kaitlin and Will’s wedding at the Wheeler House in Ball Ground, Georgia, was magic from beginning to end.

This actually wasn’t the first time I had the pleasure of photographing these two in this location, as I took their engagement photos in this very spot last October. Built in 1906 and recently renovated in 2010, the Wheeler House was a gorgeous location for both. Returning to the same location with the same couple for two completely different, yet poignantly romantic events in their lives was a special experience I have never had before or since.

Kaitlin and I went to school together at Georgia Tech, and, as Will went to Auburn, much of their time as a couple was spent long-distance. Despite the physical distance their relationship has endured, their 10+ year friendship was evident in their easy laughter and obvious, deep love for each other.

They are also blessed by a deeply loving group of friends. Photographing Kaitlin’s bridesmaids as they watched Kaitlin and Will’s first look was such a sweet moment, as was the bridal party rushing the bride and groom at the end of their portraits to give them a massive group hug. Not to be outdone, Kaitlin and Will’s families, who are very close, had many beautiful moments with them as well, notably joining them in front of the ceremony site for a prayer. Moments like these are what make wedding days so unique and special, no matter how many I have the opportunity to photograph.

When the time came to hit the dance floor in continued celebration of this couple of fishing enthusiasts, the guests were filled with such a vibrant joy to be #ReelingInTheBates.. but none were more vibrant than Kaitlin and Will, as they performed a perfectly choreographed first dance to “Loving You Easy” by Zac Brown Band, ending in a dip that sent the guests cheering. Kaitlin and Will’s wedding day was a blast, and I am so pleased to share with you some of my favorite photos from their special day!
